Guest guest
the other thing i wonder about is how commercially feasible it is to 'feed' your laying hens up to 70% pasture..? i'm just referring to commercial farms that rely on the meat/egg income - not non-commercial farms. do chickens on 70% pasture lay as frequently as those eating more grains? my understanding is that, at least with meat birds, farmers have to feed " x " portion of grain to get them to the weight they need to be at time of slaughter. i don't know how much " x " amount of the diet needs to be grain, though. and i don't know if that also goes for layers. I sure don't know a whole lot about the subject, but it seems to me that bugs could replace grains, though maybe it's hard to get enough bugs to replace the large amount of grain that modern laying hens need. -
Guest guest
I was curious if anyone else on the list has problems digesting eggs. This developed over the last ten years or so for me -- whenever I eat a meal of eggs (such as a breakfast with 2 eggs, or an omelet, etc.) I get a nasty stomachache within a couple hours and it lasts for a couple hours. No other problems, just the stomachache. I can eat baked goods that contain eggs without any problem. I have tried organic eggs, regular eggs, etc., and it does not seem to make a difference.
