Guest guest
Ha! It wasn’t bad, I actually did like, I just like the “real dairy” one better. J I did not regret the $3.47 I spent on it. Maybe some follower Celiacs who cannot do dairy will be able to review it better or compare it to something else. I suppose it’s hard to reproduce cheese without any dairy. I always think that they should just stop trying to make meat and dairy substitutes and just concentrate on making good vegan food. How about rice macaroni with shiitake-hazelnut sauce? Or tomato-basil sauce with a really good olive oil? Guest guest
I tried it and liked it. The consistency of the " cheese " is off, but the taste is pretty good. When you go gluten free, you learn to give consistency a little leeway. > > Ha! It wasn't bad, I actually did like, I just like the " real dairy " > one better. Guest guest
Finally !!!! There is hope for my kids to enjoy mac & (almost)cheese again. I have been waiting but have not seen the Daiya cheese sold in stores yet? Anyone know where to find it.? From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Wallace Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2010 2:17 PM Subject: [ ] Amy's Ric Mac w/ non-dairy cheeze Today I picked up Amy’s Rice macaroni with non-dairy cheese from Whole Foods in Capitola. I can eat dairy and normally get the GF one with regular cheese but they didn’t have it. I never get the soy cheese stuff, b/c I don’t do well with soy products. This however is made from Daiya vegan cheddar which is (water, tapioca, arrowroot flour, safflower oil, coconut oil, pea protein, salt, yeast, veggie glycerin, xanthan gum, rice extract, enaymes, bacterial cultures, citric acid and annatto.) There’re no soy in it at all. On the box it says “gluten free, non-dairy, soy free.” I would get it again. -
Guest guest
> > Today I picked up Amy's Rice macaroni with non-dairy cheese from Whole > Foods in Capitola. I can't eat dairy or gluten. I make my own mac & cheese using TJ rice pasta and yeast. It's easy, and way ceeaper than any packaged food. here's the recipe: rice pasta (whatever shape you like), cooked in the normal way for 1-2 servings of pasta, i use: about 1/4 cup nutritional yeast pinch of salt pinch of onion powder (optional) big pat of butter or margarine (I use Earth Balance) put the yeast, butter & salt in a small bowl. When the pasta is done, take some of the hot water out of the pot and pour it over the yeast. Make sure it's hot enough to melt the butter. Stir well until smooth. Pour over pasta and mix just before serving. Sometimes I add broccoli or asparagus to the boiling pasta water. I also like it with a hotdog cooked in with the pasta. btw, I saw soy-free Earth Balance at my local Hippie Store yesterday. Lori
