I'm glad you had a pleasant meal.

Cole slaw can be a problem in restaurants, as it may be made with malt vinegar. I think malt vinegar is cheaper.

Subject: [ ] Famous Dave's BBQ Restaurant

We were in Gilroy yesterday, and I thought I would check out Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant for lunch. The corporate office had emailed me their updated 3/26/10 Food Ingredient Listing. This Food Ingredient Listing is NOT a gluten-free menu, but gives an easy read to see which foods could be possibly ordered.

Their different BBQ sauces were all on the table, but from the ingredient listing, I could see that most of them had barley malt flour. A few BBQ sauces didn't. You definitely cannot have the ribs or chicken wings (fried in contaminated oil).

I explained to the waitress that I could not have any gluten and the cross-contact issues that could happen in the kitchen. I then asked my usual 10,000 questions regarding the menu items. I decided to have the Country Roasted Chicken with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Instead of the corn muffin, they brought me another corn on the cob. We also splurged and ordered coleslaw, too. The meal was delicious and satisfying.

They are opening a Famous Dave's at The Plant in San , maybe by September. I have uploaded their Ingredient Listing into the Files section of this group site if you want to take a look at it.

Here is the usual disclaimer - Famous Dave's does NOT have a gluten-free menu. Eating out is risky. If you choose to eat at this restaurant, talk to the wait staff. At least every menu item's ingredients are spelled out for you here - most restaurants do not give you this luxury. This post is just an informational post for anyone would like to try a new restaurant.
