Guest guest
Kam - I'm so bummed you have to be in so much pain. Beside back pain, did you experience urinary burning? UTI's are extremely painful and uncomfortable. Did you finish the first round of antibiotics when you had your first UTI? Or did you do the same as this time, take a few and then stop? I'm guessing you know all the info on cranberry etc. If not let me know. Praying for fast healing - Alpine > > Well, folks, I started having quite a bit of pain in my back a week > ago (after a walk) and thought I had overdone it. Guest guest
kam - I found it interesting that you are getting so many UTI infections. I have had 3, one every month. The dr told me if I get another one, they will send me to an urologist. I go on the strong antibiotics, drink lots of liquid, and it seems to go away, then in approx 3 weeks, I come down with the symptoms all over again. I wonder what is causing it? Let me know what you find out. Thanks, Kathy G.advokam <advokam@...> wrote: Well, folks, I started having quite a bit of pain in my back a week ago (after a walk) and thought I had overdone it. Work has been kind of stressful (as have some of my volunteer positions) and so I just figured it was all of that. I can be kind of slow...A couple of days ago it hit me that the back pain was in the EXACT same place as before and that I have been extremely moody, even a bit depressed, and that's when I realized that I may just have another UTI. I felt bad enough yesterday to go to the Urgent Care Clinic and have my suspection confirmed. He was concerned that it had reached my kidneys again and insisted on giving me a shot along with ten days of antibiotics. I have only taken one of the antibiotics thus far, but hoped I'd be feeling better today since they worked so quickly last time (although it was a different antibiotic). However, today I feel worse...much worse.I am going to call Dr. Bridwell's office tomorrow and see if they think further tests are necessary in light of two UTIs in two months, but the doc yesterday said not to worry unless I get another one. If I do, he said I should be checked for stenosis. This made me kind of chuckle...never thought about stenosis in other parts of the body!Anywho, if anyone has experienced such and has any words of wisdom, please share them. I believe someone else may have mentioned having more than one infection post-op, but they may not have been consecutive. Also, for the record, prior to these two, it had been over ten years since I had one and I drink about a gallon of water a day at present, so this is highly unusual...and extremely painful.I hope you all are well. I've been thinking about all of you. If someone hears from Carole M, please let us know. She's been on my mind as well.kam Blab-away for as little as 1¢/min. Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear this, Kam. I was hoping you were doing amazingly well -- especially since you are back to pushing yourself to be so busy. Have you perchance been sitting in a public hot tub ?? That could possibly explain the UTI. Hot tubs are a great way to share bacteria. > > Well, folks, I started having quite a bit of pain in my back a week > ago (after a walk) and thought I had overdone it. Guest guest
Kam, Another UTI really blows. I don't really have words of wisdom...although I was very prone to them for a number of years, and at one point had to use a precautionary dose (can't remember if it was an antibiotic?) anytime after intercourse. My gynocologist presecribed them. I don't want you to disclose your sex life but could it be possible that the new angle of your pelvis is causing some trauma on the urethra? I know we all have bemoaned the changed geometry and somewhat new position required for reaching and cleaning up in the john....double check you are using good hygene in that regard.. The other thought was that there often seems to be a relationship with all our scoliosis issues and potential nerve damage to the nerves that control the bladder....perhaps you now have to work extra hard to insure you have completely voided? I have read that retaining urine can be a problem when there are issues with nerves in the lumbar/sacral area. Maybe a quick ggogle search and you can pull up some good info on that.... I think you are right to drop a call on Bridwell...and maybe your regular PCP too to investigate. I really hope this too passes quickly....just what you need....right? I hope you started feeling a little better today... Take Care, Cam
