Welcome to the Bay Area - where are you coming in from?

We keep a detailed Google map: http://is.gd/4YuBP

There's actually two pages of data on the web version of the map. the

left column scrolls - go to the bottom to see the link for page 2.

Tons of good options.

I have instructions for running the map on Google Earth for iPhone.

Handy if you're on the road:

Right away I'd say seek out Zadin in San Francisco and Mariposa Bakery

in Oakland. There's a lot of good pizza spots. The usual PF Changs and

Outback Steakhouses are everywhere, but if you plan ahead you can find

plenty of unique locations to make your trip more special.

Cheers,

Joe

in Oakland and we will drive down to Monterey too. Your suggestions are greatly

If you are in the Union Square area of SF, The Daily Grill is a good choice. They have a gluten free menu and the food is delicious. I have safely eaten there a few times now- though I have not ventured beyond the fish.

Mariposa is a can't-miss! You can get fresh bread and hot pizza slices, along with cookies etc at their bakery in Oakland and they now have a kiosk in the Ferry building in Downtown SF.

Zadin in the Castro is also a great moderately priced option. Friendly place, good food, and mostly gluten free. Their soups are fantastic!

Terzo in the Marina is also a very nice restaurant that can easily accomodate g-f. I have had three wonderful meals there. Not sure if it is really a spot for kids.

Amici's Pizzerias have g-f pizzas and several ppl have given positive reviews, though I have not tried it yet and so cannot give a personal recomendation.

Not sure if the kids will do sushi, but that is a good bet. Rumblefish in the Richmond is a fun, inexpensive option. Just be clear with them about the soy sauce, cross contammination and stick to the sushi. Ozumo in the Financial District is a great upscale option.

Also not sure it the kids will do raw, vegan food but Cafe Gratitude in SOMA/Mission is good and so very SF!

Good luck with the big vacation!
