Guest guest
Hi All, Not sent a message here for a while but been reading all the many posts with interest and noticed that there has been a recent thread relating to eye problems. With this in mind I just wanted to ask you all something. Six months after being diagnosed with Auto-Immune Hypothyroidism, I was diagnosed with Keratoconus. Keratoconus is a rare eye disorder where the cornea of the eye becomes thin and cone shaped and basically my eyesight will deteriorate to the point where I will eventually need corneal transplants in both eyes. When I asked the doctor at the eye clinic if this could have been caused by the hypothyroidism he said no it was a completely different reason. However, having researched the condition I have since found that it can be triggered by hormonal changes and I thought that as thyroxine is a hormone, that it could have been triggered by the thyroid problem after all. So after that long winded explanation my questions to everyone are, a) does anyone out there suffer from Keratoconus? and have they been told if it is related to their thyroid problem? Thanks and would appreciate any info, Take care and be well, Ali __________________________________________________
