I'm told that San Franciso Marina's Chestnut St French Bakery now makes a GF pound cake? sold by the slice. I suspect that cross-contamination would be a factor, as their cooking space is very small.

This might be good for someone who isn't very reactive and can use this as an occasional treat.

I love having coffee at the Bakery. They're cheerfully supportive of my bringing in a slice of toast to have with my coffee. I cut it in thirds beforehand, so it doesn't look so obviously not "theirs" to other customers.

Subject: [ ] The Plant Cafe, SF

Hi CBA:

At first I was super excited to see The Plant Cafe in the Marina district of SF had gluten-free food on their menu as well as chocolate chip cookies. However, I've gone 4 times, and each time I've had a reaction to their spring rolls with peanut sauce (I think it's the peanut sauce that's a problem), their Green Rice Bowl and their Red Rice Bowl. It might just be the sauces. :(

However, I have eaten their Raw Foods Cheesecake (yummy!) and did fine along with their coffee, wine, and smoothies.

I'm writing for the first time, so I hope I'm doing this right.  I had dinner at the Alamo Square Seafood Grill recently and it was fabulous!  They were very knowledgeable about which dishes were gluten free (almost all - even the potato-leek soup).  The best news is that they're very reasonable - if you come before 7, there's a special meal that's $15.  That meal was so wonderful, I was glad we ordered a bottle of wine to make up for the low price.  If this restaurant is already on the map, I apologize, but wanted to spread the word.  Margaret
