Guest guest
Hi everyone: I know I've been a stranger but I have been reading as much as possible. Hello to all you newbies. As we say, we are sorry you had to get here but we are glad you found us The Summerhills will be going to conference as of today, and I am sorry to see that Donna and possibly Robbin will not be able to attend. I know the Moys - Andy (8) mom can not go either for it is during the holiday. I hope that we will see at least some of the group faces and for those who won't be there you truly will be missed. If anyone would like us to try to pick up stuff for them I would be more than happy. I do not have the brochure yet so I don't know the classes but please email me personally and I would be happy to help you in anyway. My home email is Kimsumm@.... So WHO is is planning on going as of right now? Just curious - let me know if you think you will be able to attend this year. DONNA - you have been in my prayers and I am so happy that everything has worked out for you. I was really worried about you and just wanted you to know that you had a "silent" friend out there keeping you in their prayers. Also, please tell that ne said hello. Please note that Helen (I believe) set up the kids JRA group and ne is on quite often but said that very few of the kids use it. I know her and Kendra have spoken quite often so please have them check it out if they want to catch up with the girls Hugs and prayers to all - Kim & ne (13 Poly JRA) Summerhill
Guest guest
Hey donna! The Hutslars are going to do again this yr. Kendra has gotten fairly active in the AF here and she really wants to go so we’ve worked really hard to save up aluminum cans and this is helping offset the $$. Not sure if we’ll get help from the foundation, but we’re going to try! Sorry to hear your not going! Talk to you soon Jill From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ajaoky@... In KY only one scholarship is given and the process is it is first offered to families who have never attended. Guest guest
By all means PBC'ers and PSC'ers are all welcome to attend the conference. I'm sure they would have a wonderful educational time! Guest guest
I know many of you have said flying into Wayne is easiest. The problem I'm finding is all the flights from Milwaukee are weird times, multiple plane changes or looong (4+ hours) layovers. So I'm thinking from Milwaukee I will have to do LAX. Curious if anyone has started looking at flights and having similar problems. Guest guest
Hi Donna: I only went to one young adult session. It was a session about coping, which seemed like something that everyone could learn from. Most of what they talked about were very common sense type coping mechanisms. I did like the " allowed pity party " however. They said it can be healthy to have a pity party. Allow yourself (or your child) a set amount of time each week to have a full blown pity party. Then when your time is up its back to normal. Hannah liked this idea and we may utilize this in the future. They said some people like to watch a sad movie during this time, some write or draw based on their mood. The big thing is to get the family involved or not allow the person to take that time out on their family. If anyone wants more information on this session, there were some handouts. I can post more from those once I sort through everything. I did not take notes during this session. Beth & Hannah, 11, the mystery patient Sending prayers & happy thoughts, Beth conference I am so glad everyone who attended enjoyed the conference and the feedback has been so good. My question is : Has anyone heard any feedback on the young adult sessions? Donna

***** *********
Get fantasy football with free live scoring. Guest guest
Donna, and I attended the Young Adult session on College & Rheumatic Diseases presented by Carolyn Dodge . It was excellent; we had been told that nothing was available beyond the 2 yr community college and she assured us how untrue that is, although accommodations may vary between campuses. There was no hand-out, but if you would like more info on what she presented, I can tell you more. Guest guest
The conference doesn't seem to have been advertised much on the Web. And I emailed the organizer a while ago, and she never emailed me back. L²
