Guest guest
Hi Ladies – I have yet to find a reliable source for nuts….roasted peanut, cashews, almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. Most seem to be made on the same equipment as products containing wheat and we totally avoid cross contamination. If you come across something let me know. Also, wondering who all is attending the celiac conference? Thinking we could all gather for lunch. C
Guest guest
For almonds, e-mail Blue Diamond for gluten info. The company makes GF nut crackers, so they understand about gluten. We have guys here, too! Guest guest
The plain nuts at trader joe's (as opposed to the trail mixes) do not appear to made on shared equipment. Guest guest
I have used TJ's plain nuts for years with no problem. The packages of all foods at TJ's seem to state whether their various products are made on shared equipment. On Apr 11, 2010, at 3:16 PM, Darcy wrote:We also use TJ’s nuts with no problems. I have tried to use some of them since they have been labeled as being on shared equipment with good practices, but I get glutened. I don't try any more. I too, am kind of frustrated that I can't find uncontaminated nuts anymore. --Ruth Anne
Guest guest
Which nuts are you getting? I get my nuts pretty much exclusively from TJ’s, and I have never had a problem (I am SUPER sensitive). I use the raw organic kind. Perhaps the flavored ones are getting cc’d? Guest guest
Oh, and I’m going to the conference for sure. I’d love to meet up with folks. How would we manage that? Guest guest
Cara, in case you don't know, TJs stands for Trader Joes. I shop at the Lafayette and Castro Valley stores because those are the areas that I live and work in. I have also gone to the Emeryville store. I would google Trader Joes and see which one is nearest to you.Good Luck!CarynOn Apr 12, 2010, at 8:15 AM, Cara wrote:Thanks Everyone. Where can you find the TJ’s nuts? Guest guest
Thanks Everyone. We find Trader Joes to have pretty heavy cross contamination issues and stay away from their nuts. Any other ideas? From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Caryn Gottfried Sent: Monday, April 12, 2010 10:58 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Need good nut source Cara, in case you don't know, TJs stands for Trader Joes. Guest guest
Sorry, We were lazy. TJ’s in short for Trader Joe’s. I get the raw ones. Just the regular house brand, no salt or anything. To be honest, I’ve never tried the flavored ones that are made on shared equipment. I’m too scared… From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Cara Sent: Monday, April 12, 2010 8:15 AM Subject: RE: [ ] Need good nut source Thanks Everyone. Where can you find the TJ’s nuts?
