Guest guest
We eat at the Palo Alto Counters frequently. Never had a problem. We order burger in a bowl with cheese and bacon. Some of the sauces are not GF, but the staff is aware of which ones those are. The fries are fried in a dedicated frier.Hi Everyone – I just called the Santana Row restaurant and they said the burgers and chicken are all cooked on the same grill. The chicken is not listed as GF and they were unsure if the marinade on it contains gluten or not. I called corporate and they said they were not sure if the chicken is marinated with a GF sauce and will check and get back to me by hopefully tomorrow. Their initial response was that because the meats are cooked on a grill at 800 degrees that any residue of gluten would burn off. I explained to them why this may not be the case and it should be researched further to be certain there is no cross contamination. Any thoughts on all of this? Could an 800 degree grill be safe and eliminate cross contamination? If the chicken is marinated with a GF sauce we’re clear and the items are not only GF but free of cross contamination. Will get back to you all once I hear from corporate. Cara A little way down the peninsula but wonderful is the Counter Burger which has "burger in a bowl" and they have safe fries and are delicious. http://www.thecount erburger. com/
Guest guest
I've eaten at the Santana Row Counter and never had trouble. I get my burger in a bowl. The staff seems well versed in what I can and cannot have. CherylFrom: Cara <cara@...>Subject: [ ] Gluten Free Burger -contamination? Guest guest
I don't think there has been any study done showing that gluten is "burned off" by high heat. Maybe a protein can be altered by high heat - I don't know - but I think it's more likely just not true. I also think it's weird that even the corporate office has no idea what is in the chicken marinade. Kind of freaky how removed everyone at Santana Row is from the actual ingredients they are serving... -----Original Message----- From: c b <ccbatt@...> Sent: Wed, Apr 14, 2010 8:14 pm Subject: Re: [ ] Gluten Free Burger -contamination?
