Gluten-free treats at Yosemite General Store

This week we spent a few days at Yosemite, and as usual I packed up the

motorhome with enough GF goodies to last us for a couple of months (well, we

could have been snowed in!). Half way through I stopped in at the Yosemite

General Store for eggs and cheese, and found, to my surprise, that the store

is stocked with many gluten-free items. The more I looked, the more I

found! Five or six different kind of GF crackers, several GF cereals

(including Chex), Betty Crocker cake and brownie mix (we don't even have

that in Santa Cruz yet! I bought 2 boxes), Bob's Red Mill Pizza crust mix

and baking flour, GF pancake mix, and Lundberg Rice Chips, Tinkyada and

DeBoles pastas (including rice lasagna noodles) were a few of the things I

found on the shelves. In the freezer they had various Amy's GF dinners

(including rice mac and cheese), frozen waffles, a couple of different kinds

of FFL bread, Glutino pizzas (3 kinds), Udi's pizza crust, and (!!!) Udi's

blueberry muffins (they were yummy). I have to think that there are a few

celiacs living in the village (or working at the store) to have this many

great GF products.

It's nice to know that if a celiac in Yosemite were to get their food swiped

by a bear, they would find more than rice cakes and corn tortillas at the

store to keep them happy for the rest of their trip.
