I keep a small amount on the countertop but keep the bulk cold. Mine are out on the store shelf before purchase. I think they are fine for short term there. -Theresa >

Guest guest
I totally agree about grinding up flax seeds or, for that matter, any 'seeds'. Eating them 'whole' even when chewing, etc., can be tough on the digestive system and ileoceal(sp) valve, recognizing of course that now and then as a 'scraper' seeds can be useful. Guest guest
Hello, I learned how to make flax seed crackers. I use a dehydrator, whirl the flax in my Vita-Mix and dehydrate them at 105 for 2 days. I then eat them as is or break them up in raw soup or as bread crumbs in a salad. Even the kiddies like these. Bernadette What are some ways to include Flax seed inthe diet? I've seen breads in the grocery store made with it, but do you add it to juice or energy shakes? Thanks,RhondaSubscription email: mailto:bowel cleanse-subscribe

Guest guest
Pearl - within 48 hours after grinding the flax seed it loses nutrients. I grind fresh every day. I know you can buy some that are already ground that you keep in the fridge - just don't know how 'nutrient rich' they are. Udo's oil is very good - and so is Barleans' Flax oil ... They should have a date stamp on the side of the box (or bottle) when you buy them so it tells you how fresh they are. - the oil will last longer than the freshly ground seed - in the fridge. The seed is SOOO loaded with nutrients tho - that I wouldn't personally be without it - as well as what it does for the colon - the oil is great but will not have the fiber in it ... etc. wendy wendy Flax Seeds >>Try some ground flax seeds. I am more regular than I have ever been since starting the flax. You can buy organic ones in bulk and grind them in a coffee grinder and drink them in juice or whater, sprinkle them on yogurt or anything and enjoy. The taste is mild and doensn't inhibit the flavor of anything else. Best wishes, Marti>> My question is that is the flax seeds that are ground up, is it just as good to take the omega oils? They have flax in them. I take the Omega 3-6-9 in liquid form...UDOS oil is the brand. Guest guest
My doctor told me to toss the " already ground " seed I had purchased - he said it is rancid after 48 hours...even in the refrigerator. I just bought flax seeds from a site provided to me (relatively inexpensive too) and bought a grinder (also not too expensive) and grind every morning 3-4 Tbls. Guest guest
if you eat the flax seeds whole they will 'pass' in your stool. If you cook them you will lose alot of the nutrients, though they may be tasty in a hot cereal. The best way to get all the nutrients is to freshly grind them daily and EAT them.... you will never be the same! wendy Flax Seeds Just got back from the health food store. I got 1 pound of the organic flax seeds for $2.19 They are so small, does anyone eat them whole? Is there a purpose to griding them? I just spent a small fortune on organic foods. We couldn't go where we normally go ( too far ) because my dh was driving and had fog head ! My dh was with me hand he loaded up the cart with fruit !!! We are in the early stages of the diet and are not supposed to eat any fruit, he knows this. I get so tired of handling my diet and his.I mentioned this to him and he hit the ceiling.....I am " a nag " ! I am so tired of the whole thing ! I feel like we are trying to fight for our lives, and he acts like a child. LIke I am punishing him every time he can't have something !! Ugh Bad day ! Guest guest
you could always grind them " longer " .... you didn't say whther your grinder is a coffee grinder? It won't work very well with just a regular food grinder. wendy Flax Seeds Well I finally had the flax seed this morning. I ground them up in my coffee grinder. I was surprised that they " still " had a crunchiness to them. Is this alright? Or is my grinder not doing it's job? It looked like powder? I was adding ground flax seeds to my protein shake hoping it would help with regularity. Finally, some angel (I can't remember who) posted that they should be whole flax seeds. What a difference! Guest guest
Dear , What dosage should one start with whole organic flax seeds and when should it be taken? Regularity is one of my problems, but then, if you saw a list of all my problems, you might have to take time off to read it! Guest guest
Hi , Flax seeds are an important part of Dr. Budwig's die It is much more than just cottage cheese and flax seed oil. If you are interested I highly recommend you get her books. There are two translated into English and they are not expensive. Barlean's oil company sells them for the cheapest prices. They also sell the oil at wholesale price to any one with cancer. Call the 800 number for info. see barleans.com for the number and to order the books. One explains how and why the diet works and one is a recipe collection that further explains the make-up of the diet. I think it is less than $20 for both of them together. Guest guest
I thought it only fair to also share my thoughts of flax seeds. I had previously posted a note about my hesitation in using them as in the past I had used them quite a bit prior to my diagnosis of breast ca. In reading the book last night on Budwig, it said that if the seeds are not ground and used fresh, like within 10 to 15 minutes, they actually have a deterious effect. I had been grounding the seeds a bag at a time and storing them for several days or weeks. Just thought I should share. Peace and grace.
