"The amount of flaxseed given to each mouse was 5 percent of itstotal food intake, which would be a very difficult amount forhumans to eat, but it does signal that we are on the right track andneed to continue research in this area."

Usually, this type of data is reported in terms of percent by WEIGHT

of a 'mouse chow' diet. I don't know what this would translate into

for people.

Here's one looking at the benefits of soy protein and flaxseed:

Heintzman Farms, which promotes their golden flax seeds (disclaimer -

I have no relationship with this company, although I've bought their

product) recommends 1/4 cup unground seeds per day - ground just

before consumption due to the rate at which the oils oxidize after

grinding. This is 245 calories - 14% of your 1800 calorie budget.

And yes, I realize they are promoting their product.

Hope this info helps.
