Hello all,

This would be a great moment for all of us to make a collective top twenty

food (and drink) pyramid. It would make all of us think and be informative

as well.

My foods, not in order, would probably include:

sourkraut

green leafy vegetables

turnips

nuts

Low GI fruits:mixed berries (blue, straw, wolf, black),citris fruits, apples

cruciferous veggies

sprouts (particularly broccoli)

peppers

legumes

roots (beets, carrots)

Parsley

coriander

onions

cooked tomatos

garlic

spices

fish

egg whites

near the top few. I would have a grain to go with the legumes, but in

minimal amounts. Dairy too.

At the very tiniest top would go some of my favorite mouth foods:

pasta, potatos, rice, popcorn.

Desserts would be off the chart completely as non nutritious delights.

Drinks would be Water, Green tea, Coffee very sparingly.

This more or less reflects what I normally eat.

Comments? What did I forget? Other opinions?

MM

terrific idea MM. I suggest we refer to Suz's " Checklist for CRON Variety "

(in the files) to make up this pyramid.

OK,

Rather than a pyramid, I'll list what I generally eat on a typical

CRON day. Add as you see fit.

Mourning:

8 oz. Skim Milk

Fruit (1.5 up strawberries, 1 cup bluberries, or 1 banana)

Grain (2 slice whole wheat toast, 1 cup oat bran cerial, or 1 servinf

shredded wheat).

Decaf coffee

Lunch:

Staple Veges: Raw brocholi, carrots, red peppers, raw tomatoes,

romaine, cucmbers. Maybe raw zuchini, onions, celery, red cabbage.

protein: hard boiled egg, canned tuna, grilled chicker breast, deli

turkey breast.

Grain: Pumpernickle bread, bulger wheat, wild rice, or whole wheat

bread

olive oil or whole olives

Dailey snacks/fill in:

fat free dannon light yogurt (w/nurtisweet)

10 almonds

1 brazilian nut

2 pieces whole fruit (apples, oranges, pears, peaches, banans,

raisins)

Ice cream (fat free, no sugar (usually!!)

Decaf Coffee

Dinner:

Cooked vege (spinach, brussels sprouts. brocholi, cauliflower,

carrots, kale, string beans)

Starch: sweet potato, white potato, brown rice, millet, or pasta

(whole wheat).

MEAT!! Fish (flounder, salmon, or red snapper), boneless chicken

breast, shellfish (scallops or shrimp). Weekly, pork or beef.

olive oil for cooking.

Occasional 4 oz. wine

Generally consume 1800 calories. Occasional sweets.

Hope this helps. One CRONies approach.
