Guest guest
In all the foo-rah about the new food pyramids, a number of things in the same Newsweek issue (Jan 20) have been overlooked. On page 56 (if you have it handy) is " New ideas about halting diabetes " . See http://www.msnbc.com/news/858084.asp - neat stuff. On page 70, a piece called " A little more willpower can change your life " http://www.msnbc.com/news/857653.asp - heady stuff to be published as we (in general) become a fatter and fatter nation. Another pyramid issue - the pyramids are inconsistent in the areas they assign to foods. It isn't clear to me whether the areas correspond to number of servings, % of calories, importance in including, etc. I'm beginning to think a better illustration would be squares for each group corresponding either to number of servings, or % of consumed calories - either one, but clearly marked.
