Liko: You should have received a newbie notice when you joined which

suggested reading the files and reading Walford's books.

Go to our home page:

/

and click on " files " in the left hand margin. Read the following files to

learn more about what a CRON diet should include:

CRON Made Easy

Top Antioxidant Foods

Desirable Foods to Include in One's Diet

More Advice for Newbies

If you can't read the book, the four aforementioned files should help you

get started.

CRON is "C"aloric "R"estriction with "O"ptimal "N"utrition. Yes you reduce calories by eating less food, but first you must satisfy nutritional needs. CRON is not vegetarian per se, but to get high nutrition with low calories involves eating many fruits and vegetables. It is difficult to cover all nutritional bases with only vegetarian foods, but it is possible and a minority (I'm guessing about that) of CRONies do.

Maximizing nutrition while minimizing calories is not trivial and most (another guess) use computer programs to help in that task. Some of the popular books provide typical daily menus but to adopt a program that you can stay with for your hopefully longer life you will want to come up with a custom diet that meets your needs and satisfies your wants.

Hope this helps.

CRON is eating less calories and cutting out, fats, sugars and other things. Is this like heading toward a vegetarian diet and intaking less calories? Or does this program mean to cut calories and still have what you want to eat? It's hard for me to explain. If I wanted to eat for example, a 200 cal breakfast and a 500 cal lunch and a 500 cal dinner is this a cron program? Breakfast would be fried eggs, toast and coffee, Lunch a slice of pizza with a diet pepsi and Dinner Minestronie soup and french bread on the side. I've been reading a vegetarian cookbook that says to have beans cooked together with pasta or rice is this ok? I'm sorry if this sounds like dumb ??? I don't have the book to read and I'm trying to find all of the information through my computer. Thanks......liko

As Francesca has remarked on a number of occasions, you can often get

Walford's books at the library, even if you're not going to buy them.

Also, if you go to http://www.google.com and put

walford diet

into the search window, you'll find plenty.
