For those of you who are serious about pursuing a raw or more raw diet, I would like to mention a cookbook entitled RAW the uncook book by no with Lenkart, And yes just no, that's it...nothing more. Here's the bottom line on this cookbook...completely raw, no dairy, recipes are extremely complex, sound crazy and are unbelievably delicious! I mean everything we have tried sounds crazy but tastes great. Now a little CRON warning. The recipes are not necessarily CRON in nature i.e these recipes use a lot of nuts, seeds, and salt. Still, if you are interested in raw and want to ingest raw food that tastes great, this is one heck of an adventure into that world. Have fun, Dave

"I couldn't open the Dr. Weil website that Jammer posted, so he mailed me thearticle. Here's Dr Weil's take on the subject:'I know some people believe it's harmful to cook food..... here arepeople who will soak rice for weeks rather than cook it...

--So THAT'S how it's done!! I gave up that experiment at 3 days - too early,

it seems, altho i seemed to find the soak water turning funky already by then.

So i suppose one has to rinse the rice daily, as well.

".. or bake their wheat

--I would add that cereal grains, for example oatmeal, can be soaked for

anywhere from a few hours to overnite before breakfast, with no cooking at

all, and are still delicious- maybe even more so, than cooked - depends how

you like the consistency. I personally do not eat grains because i can't

deal with the oils, but when i was trying this, i was very pleased with how

non-cooking worked out.

"There are some vegetables I would never eat raw...alfalfasprouts, lentil sprouts, mung bean sprouts...

--Wow. Glad i read this. I, and probably many others, considered these

among the excellentmost of raw foods. Wonder what the sproutists would

say about Dr. Weil's recommendation? Thanks, F.S., for posting this! *Very* interesting reading, maybe of much

consequence to me.Hue
