Guest guest
From: Francesca Skelton Subject: [ ] Dr Weil on raw food "I couldn't open the Dr. Weil website that Jammer posted, so he mailed me thearticle. Here's Dr Weil's take on the subject:'I know some people believe it's harmful to cook food..... here arepeople who will soak rice for weeks rather than cook it... --So THAT'S how it's done!! I gave up that experiment at 3 days - too early, it seems, altho i seemed to find the soak water turning funky already by then. So i suppose one has to rinse the rice daily, as well. ".. or bake their wheat --I would add that cereal grains, for example oatmeal, can be soaked for anywhere from a few hours to overnite before breakfast, with no cooking at all, and are still delicious- maybe even more so, than cooked - depends how you like the consistency. I personally do not eat grains because i can't deal with the oils, but when i was trying this, i was very pleased with how non-cooking worked out. "There are some vegetables I would never eat raw...alfalfasprouts, lentil sprouts, mung bean sprouts... --Wow. Glad i read this. I, and probably many others, considered these among the excellentmost of raw foods. Wonder what the sproutists would say about Dr. Weil's recommendation? Thanks, F.S., for posting this! *Very* interesting reading, maybe of much consequence to me.Hue
