Guest guest
Following Micky Snir's suggestion of chewing on raw flax seed, I've been experimenting with doing it - and it seems to work very well. The last time I tried it my molars hardly seemed to make an impact on the flax - and I didn't consider it as a source of fibrous bulk. This time my teeth seemed to easily grind the flax seeds into little pieces. I reckon after such a treatment, absorbsion of the contents won't be *that* much worse than if I had smashed the flax mechanically in a grinder. The funny thing is these are the same flax seeds I tried before. Unless they have grown more brittle in the jar, it must be me that's changed ;-) Anyway, I definitely seem to be a raw flax seed convert. I'm going to have a stab at replacing some of my nut consumption with more flax seed - mainly on the grounds that it takes longer to eat - and that both the fats and the fibre are likely to be better.
