Guest guest
I've used my DWIDP-like tool for over 2 years. It is my best anti-binge tool. I faithfully record every day. The most calories I have eaten in 2 1/2 years is 2000 in one day. If I am feeling like binging, I go ahead and record all the food that I have eaten for the day in the tool. Then I add the planned binge foods. This generally stops me cold. Even if I am in a situation where I can't use the tool, I go through the mental exercise of imagining that I do this entry. I can estimate the damage and stop myself. The diary is my best tool. I usually put my breakfast and lunch in before dinner and then plan dinner to round out the rest of the day. For the last several months, I have been semi-adlibbing it and not entering in foods until the end of the day - after I have finished eating them. I found that I tended to overshoot on calories by 100-200 calories a day. As a result, I gained a couple of pounds. Now I'm back to recording frequently and always planning out that last meal. I will have to admit that I am a foodaholic and in no way am I naturally thin. Like alcoholics, I will be a foodaholic forever - and will have to keep up this diary regimen if I want to stay CRON. It is easily worth it. I spend all of 5 minutes, sometimes 3, a day on this activity. I cannot eat the same food every day - like some list members do - to control my intake. I like food too much and enjoy cooking. By the way, I let myself eat small portions of the "binge" food if I have been "good" - meaning the level of vitamins, mineral and protein for the day will still be okay if I eat the less healthy food. THis is good for the soul and deglamorizes the special foods.
