Guest guest
I would be interested in hearing from others on the CRON diet how they manage to consume the recommended 60 grams of fiber daily while keeping calorie intake low. Dried prunes are the fruit with the highest proportion of fiber compared to the calories it contains (5.7 grams for 147 calories). I would have to consume 1547 calories in prunes just to reach 60 grams of fiber. The only practical way in which 60 grams a day can be reached that I know of is to eat large amounts of wheat bran (44.5 grams for 188 calories). However that doesn't give me any soluble fibers. In a word - salad. > Dried prunes are the fruit with the highest proportion of > fiber compared to the calories it contains (5.7 grams for > 147 calories). Cucumber fruit comes out at 9.1 grams of fibre per 147 calories here. Summer squash comes out at 12.6 grams of fibre per 147 calories. Look at pumpkins, marrows and peppers in the USDA database and I expect you'll find much the same thing. If you're going for salad - why limit yourself to fruit? Celery has about three times as much fibre per calorie as those prunes.
