Guest guest
Hi all, I have just begun (for the second time) the CRON diet. I got lazy, and I don't intend to let that happen again. A short history of my involvement: I was not overweight, but was definitely not all that healthy in early nineties. My cholesterol had gotten up to 320 and my opthamologist thought it might have been a contributer in the ischemic optic neuropathy that attacked me twice and ripped up my right optic nerve pretty badly. So I had been reading The 120 year diet and decided to test the promise that this could bring my cholesterol down. I don't remember how long it was between tests (less than a year, I think), but it brought it down to 180 while HDL seemed to go up to 79, so I was feeling pretty good about the diet and exercize program then. But my wife didn't participate and overtime at work made it more difficult for me to do all my own food prep, so laziness set in and I thougt I could maintain on a milder low fat diet. This past holiday season, I blew it bigtime and a checkup in January shows my cholesterol is back up to 280. Damn! So my intention is stronger than ever to return to CRON and do it for the rest of my life. After about one month, I already feel I have much more energy--especially in the morning when I wake up. My overall feeling is really very good. The reason I am posting this is in the hope that someone who might know can pass along some of her yoga and recipe tips. The recipes in the Anti-aging Plan and good, and I do make use of some of those. But she says she is vegan, so I'm wondering what she now eats (e.g., does she supplement in order to get B12). Her yoga prowess is certainly seems to be up there with the best of them. That picture on Walford website is one of the best " downward dogs " I've ever seen. And searching on her name in Google shows a lot of hits where yoga teachers use the phrase " studied under Walford " like it was a certificate of excellence. Maybe it is ;-) I'd love to take classes from her, but live in the Seattle area, so that won't work. Specifically, I would be interested in any websites from her on recipes and yoga asanas. I imagine she never completed the section on www.walford.com because she is just very busy. Talented people tend to get all the demands upon their time they can handle. So maybe any info would just be from friends who can pass along what she told them. That would be great. One more question: I like the idea of eating more raw food, but wonder about nutrient absorption. Dr. Walford speaks about nutrient absorption often being substantially less from raw foods than it is from cooked foods. Yet reportedly eats about 75% raw. You hear other reports that raw foods contain enzymes that are destroyed in cooking. So there are arguments on both sides. Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
