Hello all, Just wanted to drop a few lines to let you know how I am doing and feeling on the 4th anniversary of my liver transplant.

Yes it was 4 years ago tonight that I was on my way to Rochester to have my transplant. Those of you who were there that night know what a wonderful time it was, but it was also very nervewracking as the wait began for the surgery.

I am praying now for my donor's family as they also remember this time, but not with such happiness though. They lost their son, brother and uncle that night 4 years ago and on March 11, 1997 I received his liver. I pray for Tom's family everyday.

The greatest gift one can give is the gift of life, wether it be by giving blood or by telling your family that you wish to donate your organs when you pass from this life.

It has saved so many lives and will continue to do so as long as people give willingly of themselves.

I have just gone through my own body attacking my new liver after almost 4 years, because docs took away an anti rejection med, but I am back on that now and also back on that dreaded prednisone and it is working, THANK GOD. Even though the prednisone has its side effects. So God willing I will have many more years with my transplanted liver.

I have learned to wake up and thank God for each day that I have been given, and even though some days aren't as good as others, they are still good days in my eyes.

I am also dealing with becoming a Grandmother in August. My 16 yo daughter is pregnant and I always said that when I was sick and waiting for my transplant that I would live to be a Grandma someday, but God did not have to take it quite so literally. made a mistake, in getting pregnant so young, but God has a plan for this child, even though we may not know what it is yet, I believe that he sent this child for a reason.

So I have many things to be thankful for as I look back and reflect on my life over the last 4 years since my liver transplant. I am alive and I have got to see my kids grow up, see my neice and nephew grow up, and spend time with family and good friends.

As you look at each new day remember this bible verse:

This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

God bless you all!

Love, Lori C.
