Guest guest
Below are my very poor sketches of why exercise helps so much in the aftermath of a big surgery. Obviously, you must work the equation very slowly in recovery...but the point is that you can't get your body to adjust its expectation that you expect/want it to do more unless you first DO more. Of course there are also the excellent side effects of increased circulation and endophin release that may help too.... tired/exhausted from surgery previous exercise or ..-> flatback ..->.. : : ^ V even more tired do less : : ^ V . . . lose more tone & . endurance The exercise equation tired/exhausted from surgery, previous .. --> workout or flatback -->.. . . ^ V ^ V : : more energy and endurance do more activity : : . . .<-- Body builds more muscle<-. and red blood cells You do more...you get stronger..so you can do more...and get stronger still. I guess that is why I like the water as an exercise medium so much...it really seems to me like it is the only place where I can keep " upping the ante " on my body without too much risk of hurting all the other joints that are already doing more than they should! Hope my picture helps...I am very limited in my ability to use the keyboard like Sharon! Take Care, Cam
