Guest guest
Hi Amy, You can eat 8 pounds of romaine lettuce and get all nutrients except selenium, for <500 kcals. I don't know how to eat 8 # of romaine, but if I did I'd still have to add sugars or oil to bring up the energy level anyway. I think there are warnings out for diets in the area of 900 kcals, although we have people touting fasting. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: ap4bwc <ap4bwc@...> Sent: Friday, January 03, 2003 10:24 AM Subject: [ ] Re: Newbie has a question Hi ,I am also vegan, however practicing CRON I average about 1200 to 1300 calories. It is VERY tough minimizing calories and getting the adequate nutrition us vegans need! Everyday I have to be extremely careful about what I eat, and cannot really stray from my daily diet. For example, if I decided to treat myself and have a serving of white steamed rice with my tofu instead of say spinach, I get extra calories with less nutrients. 900 calories would definitely be too few! Many people have said to me that you just cannot do CRON and be a vegetarian, let alone vegan! But I feel that if you are really careful and stick to your meal plan, you can do it. I also get regular check-ups with my doctor to make sure I am doing okay.I don't what your reasons for being vegan are, but I am vegan for ethical reasons, and I believe that you can practice CRON without giving up on your personal ideals. Good luck!Amy
