Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the list and been reading the digests only for about two days. I have had many juicers! LOL. The first one I bought at a health food store about 4 years ago, a Champion. It is a heavy duty machine and does a good job of juicing, what I don't like about it is that it tends to warm the juice a bit and you still get a bit of the pulp a tiny bit -- the juice is " cloudy " . I used it for about 3 yrs and then decided to try to find another machine because I also thought that the Champion was a bit of a pain to use and clean. I then found an Acme juicer (centrifugal) in the Trading Post and purchased that one -- it was great! It had filters to make the clean-up a cinch! The juice was cold as if it had just come out of the refrigerator and it was more clear and " pure " , no graininess to the juice! This machine got a 5 star rating from me! Alas, it broke within about 4 months of getting it -- not the motor but a major part of the casing:-( I went back to my Champion and was soon disatisfied again. I then went surfing the web and found a place out of California and purchased what they said was the best machine you could get as far as clean up -- wrong! It was the Miracle Ultramatic -- very pricey and very much a " pain " to clean. The juice was great however. It was a centrifugal/ejector type....I think those are truly the worst for clean-up! I sold that -- lost money big time on that deal! Also the Ultramatic used a ton more veggies to get the same amount of juice of other juicers, it really wasted veggies because the fiber would be so very wet! I then purchased a machine that is sold through a multi-level marketed company called a Juice Factory 2000, I believe it is made by Omega. I used it once and it vibrated horrible and spashed juice everywhere. I don't know if there was something wrong with this particular one or not but I promptly sent it back -- the advantage to buying from a MLM company! I then purchased another Acme hoping that it was built better than the one that I purchased used. Well it looks identical but it does have a 10 yr warranty and I love it! It is truly the easiest to clean if you use the filters (they are thin paper filters, kinda like the papers you use to roll a perm with it!) and the juice is clear and cold:-) BTW, it is centrifugal but not an ejecting type machine, so you are limited in how much you can juice at once w/o having to clean and replace the filter. I realize that the Champion is supposed to produce juice with a better nutritional value than the centrifugal type juicers but it does you know good if you don't like the clean up or the taste of the juice from it:-( Actually I did finally find a bit easier way to clean the Champion. I would attach a plastic grocery bag with a rubber band to the nozzle of the Champion to catch the fibrous stuff shot out (my brain has not woke up yet and I can't think of the right word for that stuff! Oh my!). And cleaning the parts I finally did get down to a " system " and so clean-up was not quite so bad as it was in the beginning. So, I currently own both the Champion and the Acme. I use the Acme and I will not sell my Champion because I know it is a good machine and will keep it as a back-up..... BTW, I also give my dogs the juice and the fiber after I am done juicing -- only about 1 tsp of the fiber though but my dogs do eat a raw homemade diet, many people who feed their dogs like this also juice and give that to their dogs.
