Guest guest
I had my 9 month post-op check yesterday. Everything looks wonderful with my spine, and he said the bone growth is even better than most people he sees at 9 months. Yay! Also, my tumble out of my powerchair didn't hurt anything - not that I thought it really did. My surgeon was very concerned when I commented that I was leaning forward again, especially by the end of the day, and he asked if I could stand up for him. He helped hold me while I stood, and when I got stable, he just held my hands and stepped back a little to observe. Sure enough, when I stopped being supported so well by him, I started tilting forward. He looked kind of shocked about the whole thing, then we both turned our heads and looked at the mirror in the room. My neck, back, & hips were perfectly straight, but my knees were hyperextending and putting all my body weight on the balls of me feet - thus causing me to lean forward. So everything spine-related is in beautiful alignment, and my current problem of leaning forward is more of a balance issue and therefore due to my MS stuff, not at all to my spine stuff. So that's nice to know that there isn't anything going on in that regard. I saw my MS neurologist afterwards, and he definately feels that I'm progressing again I'm going to restart my chemo treatments (novantrone) as soon as I get my required heart scan done. My hair has finally grown out to a nice length (the longest pieces almost touch my shoulders finally!), so hopefully I don't have such excessive hair loss that I have to shave it again! It grows back, and I didn't really mind the super-short/shaved hair, but I'm sort of in the mood for it to be a little longer again!
