Guest guest
, While I was being prepped for the colonoscopy, a nurse asked how long I'd had hepatitis. I knew immediately that she thought I had Hep C and she was afraid I had something contagious. Before she could get worked up into a fear-frenzy, I explained that I have an autoimmune form of hepatitis and that it's in the same category as Lupus and other autoimmune disease and NOT contagious. Though Lupus is relatively rare, at least people have heard of it, so if you tell them that AIH is in the same classification as Lupus, at least they might not act like you're walking around with the Plague - unless they also think Lupus is contagious. In that case, there's not much you can do for them except suggest they go back or more medical training. Take care, Geri
