Guest guest
Whoaaaaaa there! We are all for anything that helps us enjoy eating more healthfully, however Equal contains Aspartame, a highly controversial sweetener which happens to be the most widely used food additive in the world! Perhaps you might consider Stevia, about which, to my knowledge, there is no controversy....just a thought ~ I would hate to have us all enjoy our smoothies only until we develop brain tumors :-)) Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: Francesca Skelton Sent: Wednesday, October 16, 2002 11:56 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Is Nutrasweet gonna kill a guy??? Aspartame may be the world's most toxic common food additive - but stevia is not /completey/ without controversy either. It is banned from sale as a foodstuff throughout Europe, for example. http://www.stevia.net/safety.htm tells one side of the story. Stevia advocates like to point out that the FDA restraint on stevia represents " a restraint of trade to benefit the artificial sweetener industry " - and suggest that the question marks over stevia's safety are artifices constructed in the pursuit of that goal.
