Guest guest
> Dietary discipline is an important topic for us. I'm r eally glad we're coming out of the closet with it and tru ly appreciate ALL of the contributions that have been mad e. Maybe we don't talk about discipline for fear of muta ting into an OA meeting. We aren't a " diet club, " but di scipline is the very issue which scares people away from CRON. > Suzanne: I'm Gandhi please to meet you! And consider me as a friend of yours. Happy 2003 for you and for all in this list! SORRY IF MY COMMENTS ARE STRONG, I do not mean to be acusative, but tough as you pointed. > to " hey GET A LIFE woman " I would like to comment this phrase: As you *really feel* the benefits of CRON your are getting MORE LIFE. Some of them are: 1) You are aging slowly, womans are concerned about aging, more then man. So don't bother with (possible) envy people arrond you ! 2) You are enjoying healthy, I'm certain that girls of your age are not as healthy as you are. 3) You are skinny (I supose) and skinny girls are atractive, and being attractive to mans (including your boyfriend or husband, of course) is *a lot* of self-stem. And having self stem is to get more life. > I'll let everyone know how it's going when I get on down the road. Very wise, because we are here to suport and discussion. Weight everything you put in your mouth and calculate the calories (is this an obssessive compulsive disorder? maybe, but a disorder that will give order to the molecules of your body, hehe). > > Other interesting points were made off list which I'll throw out to the group. Someone suggested that my erring ways relate to lack of faith in the CRON diet. Maybe so. Why doubt something? Or why believe in something? 1) You have nothing to loose (except weight) or to gain beliving or not in CRON. 2) You will not starve to death if your BMI do not drops below 16.5, so being in the safe range is not harmful. 3) Do not believe in CRON is *not* the main reason for not practicing it. The main reason is the lack of discipline, persistence and perseverance. So, considering the other advantages cited above, what else that cames to you is a gain ! Yes, A **REAL** gain. > regard to relaxing the diet during the holidays, the extra weight I would gain and lose each year would amount to yo-yo dieting. I don't want to go there, which is why I'm so concerned about this in the first place. When you are already in extreme CRON, each 9 extra calories you ingest, will be equal to 1g of fat stored in your body. Doing yo-yo diet is not doing CRON? Depends of the time. If you ingest 3000 kcal in one day and nothing in the other, you gained 166g in one day, but looses it in the other, so you are in CRON, averaging 1500. But long term (more than two weeks) this is harmfull and nulify some aspects gained with CRON and in this case you are " scaping " from CRON. Don't worry. Rats restricted during certain times in the life also shows increase in max longevity. Not quite as great as for those eating on a regular basis. But rats are rats, humans are humans. Rats do not have to have discipline, but humans DO! If you want to " relax " , for 2, 3, 4, or even a week, keep in mind that you are IMPOSING yourself a chalenging and not " relaxing " in the strictu-sensu of the work. Put in mind that you are a strong woman!!! AND YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU WISH, BUT DON'T FULL YOURSELF IN ANY WAY, FIND OUT YOUR LIMITS OF TOLERANCE! REPEATING: FIND OUT YOUR LIMITS OF TOLERANCE! This is the basic truth. If you full yourself frequently, you will give up CRON. CRON is *not* an easy thing to self impose, like we all are doing in this list. And some extremists like Ben Best have (by what someone told me) gave up... > Finally, one person sent me the short version of the AA Serenity Prayer. It goes like this: " Control what you can and f**k the rest! " You can control everything if you want, because your mind is powerfull than your body. A nice phrase: *** The mind can be powerful than the body *** What prosaic!! What god's gift !! Put your mind above the matter and you will NOT need appetite suppresants. If you take appetite supressants you put the matter above your mind, which IMO is a bad choice, a week choice, and could not work long term... Will you take this drugs all the life? And if you stop, will you support the suffering...? Think twice ... ... >BUT WERE UNWILLING TO SHARE IT WITH THE GROUP Some days I eat 3000, yes, I do it! I SHARE IT TO THE GROUP. But what is the problem of eating 1200 in the week and 3000 in the weekend? The average is: 1714, a CR30 diet. Isn't it good? Why to be extremist? To gave up in the future. Again, think twice. If you exercise (as I do) this is even *more* good because CR30+exercise = CR50+sedentary. Do as I do. See the good things. Not the bad ones. If eating a cheese burger is an overhelming desire, do it. (just count the calories and compensate in exercise, or in the subsequent days, with discipline). Neither me, nor you are lab rats, so why trying to be a 100% perfeccionist in the world that is not perfect in any way? The goal of the CRON is to be healthy while you are ALIVE. If you die from an acident or a terrorist attack (that I hope will never again in the future, in anywere in the world, because what everybody wants and needs is peace, meditation and serenity, above all other things), then you will die with healthy, which IMO is better than to die from cancer, Alzheimer or some other shit... Say it to people who are afraid of the GOOD life and self destructive ones ... > > Hugs and Happy New Year to all. May 2003 bring us ALL peace and good fortune. Wish you the same thing! And that you are able to do CR ALL the days in this year. Go by the average and don't worry too much about the rest. -- The self discipline is the key to the happiness -- -- Little doses of happines are stronger to the sad one, than high doses of it are to the happy one -- Phrases of o L.
