Guest guest
Walford recommends some brands of extra-virgin olive oil in the Anti- Aging plan (p 63). Of those brands recommended, I have only tried Colavita - which to me tastes great - though I'm no connoisseur. My experience with others though is some people just do not like extra virgin olive oil - PERIOD - regardless of the brand. Some people just find extra virgin olive oil " too strong " etc. I have even had people who could eat butter and cream based dressings by the tablespoon full claim a bit of it on a salad tasted " too oily " . Go figure ... Anyway, even though if you are addding fats to food you generally want them to be monounsaturated, there is certainly no law stating you *must eat extra virgin olive oil*. What are you planning to use it for anyway? You shouldn't even notice the taste much if you are planning to cook with it and there are certainly other alternatives. > As far as taste is concerned, which brand of olive oil is your > favorite. Guest guest
for those who don't have the book, the brands recommended are: Badic, Coltibuono, Calavita, Marsala and Sciabica. In " Beyond " on page 281, he adds one mnd Sciabica. on 10/13/2002 12:31 PM, somejoanne2002 at bhsnz@... wrote: > Walford recommends some brands of extra-virgin olive oil in the Anti- > Aging plan (p 63). Guest guest
Seems like Fran and JoAnne have a plan for the man. I think I'll give that Colavita a try. I frequent this Italian place on occasion and get a Chicken, broccoli, shitaki mushroom, hot pepper meal that is one of their specialties. I've always REALLY liked this meal which is drenched in Extra Virgin Olive oil,.......that's why I was surprised that I didn't care for the stuff that I bought from the grocery store. Last time I was at the Italian place I asked what particular brand they used and they had said Colavita also. Sounds like a winner.
