Walford recommends some brands of extra-virgin olive oil in the Anti-

Aging plan (p 63). Of those brands recommended, I have only tried

Colavita - which to me tastes great - though I'm no connoisseur. My

experience with others though is some people just do not like extra

virgin olive oil - PERIOD - regardless of the brand. Some people

just find extra virgin olive oil " too strong " etc. I have even had

people who could eat butter and cream based dressings by the

tablespoon full claim a bit of it on a salad tasted " too oily " :).

Go figure ...

Anyway, even though if you are addding fats to food you generally

want them to be monounsaturated, there is certainly no law stating

you *must eat extra virgin olive oil*. What are you planning to use

it for anyway? You shouldn't even notice the taste much if you are

planning to cook with it and there are certainly other alternatives.

for those who don't have the book, the brands recommended are: Badic,

Coltibuono, Calavita, Marsala and Sciabica. In " Beyond " on page 281, he

adds one mnd Sciabica.

Seems like Fran and JoAnne have a plan for the man.

I think I'll give that Colavita a try. I frequent this Italian place

on occasion and get a Chicken, broccoli, shitaki mushroom, hot pepper

meal that is one of their specialties. I've always REALLY liked this

meal which is drenched in Extra Virgin Olive oil,.......that's why I

was surprised that I didn't care for the stuff that I bought from the

grocery store. Last time I was at the Italian place I asked what

particular brand they used and they had said Colavita also. Sounds

like a winner.
