You've been about flashing the Yanks again, eh? I knew it! Good thing your DH doesn't know 'bout all that. > What's wrong with you anyway that you don't fancy a huhu bug it's excellent > protein:-)) > > And yes we do have Mcs. I am truly, truly disappointed. Here I was thinking you might respond by saying, " No, we have no Mc's, we have no Mc's todaaayy " Then changing tune might kick in with a chorus of, we have " McChocolates! " Better the Huhu! Oh Newzie, what ever shall I do? I am soooo disillusioned. Why on earth would I want to eat dead cow fat when I can bathe in chocolate. Ohhhh, please, please tell me there's at LEAST a candy store near Doc Choc's! What a hoot that would be. I can see it now, STEW: " What is your name please? " PSGR: " Um, uh,... " MRS PSGR: " Go on, Bob, tell the lady your name. " PSGR: " Uh, I knew it when I came in. I know some of you have seen this but with this as a topic for the Egroup I felt it worthy of sending again. I agree with ...had this been an option for me as a child I would have begged my parents to take the chance. I know for parents the decision has to be extrememly tough but as a last resort I think its a miraculous treatment. Best of luck Leonard & . " I don't belive the human lifespan will be so great for two reasons: The CR should be started in a child of 10 years old to reach this age. No child would do this )) The maximum will be certainly 140 and no more than that. ] I think this is fair comment when talking about CR, but ask yourselves this question: What makes you think that CR will be the _only_ means of extending human lifespans during the next 150 years? Is this even remotely likely? I very much doubt it. Personally, i don't think that anyone can possibly predict what will be possible in 150 years time. But i would put my money on the likelihood that not only will there be people alive then that are alive now, but that some of them will still be around a thousand years from now. Of course, i'm not talking about CR here. We are seeing now the beginnings of technologies that in just 50 years will be capable of extending human lifespans beyond the 120 year mark. I don't think i am being particularly adventurous in making this prediction, either. I actually doubt that CR can do more than allow more people to get near that 120-year mark than normally make it. I don't think it will exceed that by any significant margin (I may be wrong, of course, I remember tales of 130-yr-olds living in the mountains of Georgia). To do this we need medical technologies like tissue engineering and genetic engineering, then eventually nanotechnology, machine intelligence, and so on. In my view, CR is just a means of hanging around long enough to see some of these technologies start to mature and be of real use to people. These are topics outside the scope of this forum, but in my case at least, they are a very good reason to get interested in CR in the first place. Anyone wanting to discuss these non-CR topics further, feel free to contact me off-list. BEN
