Guest guest
> For me veganism AND CR are a moral and ethical belief and I believe I > can have both without sacrificing the other. what is a moral or ethical reason for CR? i've never heard of this before. the discussions of veganism and CR are ridiculous and annoying, because CR has nothing to do with WHAT you eat, only HOW MUCH, as i've pointed out in previous posts. veganism is 100% compatible with CR, and so is a diet of nothing but animal flesh. (the latter was tried with great success by Stefansson and by the way.) CR is not a diet, it's a choice about food quantity. it seems many people equate CR with Walford's dietary advice, which it is not. mike parker
Guest guest
has a point. If you practise CRON, you are concerned with WHAT you eat. If you just restrict calories, that's another thing entirely. We should probably use the term CRON - not CR. on 5/19/2003 12:17 PM, Anton at bwp@... wrote: >> For me veganism AND CR are a moral and ethical belief and I believe I >> can have both without sacrificing the other. > > what is a moral or ethical reason for CR? i've never heard of this before. > > the discussions of veganism and CR are ridiculous and annoying, because CR > has nothing to do with WHAT you eat, only HOW MUCH, as i've pointed out in > previous posts. veganism is 100% compatible with CR, and so is a diet of > nothing but animal flesh. Guest guest
ap4: we all are guilty of using the term CR instead of CRON; this was not meant as a criticism of you in particular. Your post was much appreciated and informative. I hope you won't go back to lurkdom. Pease let us hear from you again. on 5/19/2003 6:41 PM, ap4bwc at ap4bwc@... wrote: > I responded to the original post because I felt as a vegan, and a > practicing CRONie, and an admittedly habitual lurker, that I should > add in my two cents. Guest guest
HI ap4, As one who switched to lacto-veg from meats, I would say it is difficult, but mostly in the acceptance. I can find no reason to eat meats, but I will allow there may be something we don't know about. I think we may have more vegans and veggies than we see posting. Now after 3 yrs of lacto, I find the smell of the meat depts offensive, and I just cleaned out my freezer of all of that smell. The problem I have is, my body doesn't like soy - it flares arthritic joints. So does too many peanuts. And dried beans raise my blood pressure. So if I could find a concentrated protein powder - not soy, not milk, not peanuts, not egg, not dried beans, I would use it in place of lacto. The reason I want to limit lacto is it's sodium content. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: ap4bwc Sent: Monday, May 19, 2003 11:02 AM Subject: [ ] Re: The vegans seem to be talking about us CRers Since I am vegan and practice CR, I obviously have to respond to this. It is unfortunate that this person has not done more research before writing their post.I know there are a large number of vegans on this board, and if I recall correctly, Walford is vegan as well. Clearly veganism and CR can go hand in hand. Any vegan who is truly interested in learning more about CR should be able to come to that conclusion. I know in the book, and I believe in the files on this site, it states that it is very difficult to practice CR if you are vegetarian or vegan - but it does not say impossible. For me veganism AND CR are a moral and ethical belief and I believe I can have both without sacrificing the other.Just my two cents FWIW...
