My Grandfather is better than your grandfather. LOL

However, I agree with Sue. I think that it is a fad to overly condemn Saturated

fats, however what is the optimal % for a diet. I doubt it is the american

%. I found the Price Web site interesting, however I did not find most of

it convincing as I have read the books about the "Paleo" theories and have

some anthropology and the amount of veggies in the "Paleo" diet was much

higher than than what Price advocates, IMHO, but then again, what do I know,

I am doing Atkins right now!

Weston A. Price died before I

was born, but he was a contemporary of my grandfather who died twenty years

after Price. They were both dentists in Cleveland, Ohio, and since my father

was also a dentist, "Weston A. Price" was a household name as I was growing

up. Everytime I asked for candy, Dad and Grandpa would both cite Price's

observation that native peoples had unusually good teeth, given the lack

of sugar in their diets. But even before Price made his tour of the world's

primitive cultures, it was well known that good teeth were usually found

in malnourished populations. No refined sugar, no cavities. Disease, early

death, fleas and tics, but no cavities. Unfortunately, Price was just a dentist,

not a scientist...and not a particularly good dentist according to my grandfather,

who claimed to have picked up most of Price's clients after Price went AWOL.

I do hope anybody out there who

has visited the Weston A. Price Foundation website will also checkout the

Price-Pottinger site (http://www.price-pottenger.org/)

which promotes current fads regarding health and nutrition. You'll even

find the famous Betty i aspartame email there. Price-Pottinger is a

goldmine of dubious science. If you're someone who easily believes in things

you know are not true, proceed skeptically.
