Guest guest
Yeah, I know, you don't eat the stuff, but so many others do.... You've probably all seen the reporting about the latest CSPI blast at a popular food - previously it was Chinese restaurant food and theater popcorn. Whenever I hear these things on the news, even before they say so, I know CSPI is at the root of it. It is interesting though, that some of the reporting never mentions CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest - an old Nader organization). If you want to see the whole CSPI report as a pdf file go to http://cspinet.org/new/pdf/icecream.pdf - this will take some time if you're not on a broadband connection. I think their website is getting pretty hammered today, and its reponse time is awful. Now, all of us know this stuff. What we sometimes can't convince others about, is just how bad this whole issue gets. The ice cream story is a real killer though, and maybe will be a wake-up call for at least a few. While some in the ice cream industry are spouting that this stuff is to be eaten in moderation, no one wants to suggest what 'moderation' is - once a year, at this level of indulgence? And we know they'd just love it if we patronized their establishments every day. Iris
Guest guest
The good news is that one can sample the new no sugar, low fat ice creams now available at the supermarket (Edy's, Healthy Choice). While there's not much that's " healthy " about them, they are much much lower in calories and fat. One of my favorite treats in the summer are the no sugar ice pops at the supermarket - about 15 cal per pop. Also frozen fruit and non-fat yogurt blended together (add sucralose or other art. sweetner to taste) make a pretty good frozen yogurt subsititute. on 7/24/2003 12:37 PM, oc9 at crsupport@... wrote: > Now, all of us know this stuff.
