ALL,

FWIW, I happened by pure accident to visit Beyond A Century last summer while on vacation in Maine.

I met the owner, very friendly, and we spoke for about 40 minutes or so. Mainly, about the area (Moosehead Lake, Maine) where he lived most of his life. The BAC building appears like a two story house "log cabin style". I don't recall there being AC, the front door was open, but this is Maine & there was some expansion of the building taking place too. Obviously, there was no sophisticated temperature controlled environment for a majority of the supplements. That's not to say there could be a refrigerated room there too? I don't know.

All vitamins were on numerous shelves in bulk containers with a small "open office" & counter area in front. It is not a retail store by any means, as it was obvious this is mainly mail order & Internet. He has his young son, daughter?, and perhaps another son working there too. Children and employees appeared to be young in their twenties. I'd guess the owner was in his sixties. He is stocky in build, & I think he has had some back trouble. He used to do canoeing trips & was a coach too. He started BAC "on the side" as a mail order catalog sales business growing it into a small family business. He was a serious weight lifter too, but that is past tense.

Overall impression... Nice people. Small family business which was expanding & growing including the building. The owner seemed honest & helpful, reasonably intelligent, so I didn't walk away with a "shady impression". The pace of life there is laid back small town America, so he could take the time to be interested & helpful too. I'd guess he would run his business the same way. BTW, I have never purchased anything from this company, but I just might soon since Doug & Tom seemed to have found a good deal there on R(+) lipoic acid?

That's about all I can say.

crbest, numi
