A few weeks ago I mistakenly brought home the sugared, low fat ice cream. I

always buy the new, " no sugar " low fat. Interestingly, during the time I

snacked on the " full " sugar (and trying to eat only very small portions), I

gained 3 pounds. Now that I am once again back to occasionally snacking on

the sugar free, I've shed the 3 pounds.

When you eat sucrose it splits into fructose and glucose. In the presence of glucose, fructose is stored as fat. Many of the "sugared" products are actually high fructose corn syrup and store easily. Saccharides require water for metabolism about 6 oz per 100 kcals. Burn the sugar lose that weight. Anaerobic exercise burns mainly glucose, aerobic burns fat and glucose. Use 600 kcals of glucose to burn 1 oz of fat (300 kcals) and you "lose" 36 oz of water and 1 oz of fat. 900 kcals is a lot of work.

I occasionally do the "no sugar added" low fat mainly because it doesn't have corn syrup.

Regards.
