Guest guest
Computation of Overal Glicemic Index My sugestion to the calculus is: OGI = Pondered Mean betwen Glicemic load and calories. Practical Example: grams kcal glicemic index An orange = 220 g 60 kcal 20 An banana = 95 g 81 kcal 70 An apple = 212 g 128 kcal 30 computation: 60 * 20 + 81 *70 + 30 * 128 OGI = --------------------------- = 60 + 81 + 128 1200+5670+3840 -------------- = 39.8 < 60 (Good) 269 My sugestion to Walford and other codifiers of DWIDP could add an field in the database of foods to help CRONies to keep track of OGI (defined above). This is very important, because High GI foods glicolise colagen, elastin and long lived proteins (the popular AGEs) leading to wrinkles, loss of flexibity in joints and cataracts. AGEs caused by high overal glicemic index are bad for the heart and terrible for diabetics. This is an important issue. IMHO. So let's keep the OGI low! -- Gandhi. __________________________________________________________________________ Seleção de Softwares UOL. 10 softwares escolhidos pelo UOL para você e sua família. http://www.uol.com.br/selecao
