Guest guest
In the news today are findings that using the mind helps prevent Alzheimer's (playing chess, board games, doing crossword puzzles, etc and otherwise using your gray matter). I've heard this before and always wonder about it. Admittedly anecdotal, we have an ex-President of the U.S., a prize winning novelist (the movie " Iris " was based on her struggle with Alzheimers), college professors, and other esteemed and highly intelligent people whose mind-using skills didn't help them. IMHO there must be a whole lot more to it than that. My own mother-in-law was an avid crossword puzzle doer and it didn't help her.
