Guest guest
Hi, I was thinking more along the lines of something I could purchase, not recipes to make myself. -
Guest guest
no sugar, low fat ice cream (Edy's, Healthy Choice), no sugar ice pops (5 cal per pop), no sugar chocolate pudding (make with skim milk). There are other treats for sale in health food stores and the diabetic sections of supermarkets. Many of us make our own guar puddings for the ultimate low cal snack. on 6/18/2003 9:03 PM, paultheo2000 at paultheo2000@... wrote: > Hi, > > I was thinking more along the lines of something I could purchase, not > recipes to make myself. > > -
Guest guest
One thing I am doing with success is the old trick we did as a child, freezing juice. While there is a danger with juice (calories) as a desert or snack is it far superior to our tradition snack/desert choices that it seems good to me at this time. Guest guest
There are no fat, no sugar added "ice creams". And they taste pretty good also. They still have the calories you would expect in ffmilk, etc, just no extra from fat, and no added corn syrup. Some use splenda (which I hate), but the brand I used doesn't have that either. I'm not big on ice creams. Primarily I just use fruit for snacks. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: paultheo2000 Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 7:19 PM Subject: [ ] Low calorie fairly healthy treats? Anyone hear have suggestions for low calorie treats? Obviously thesearen't going to be healthy but they might help with cravings orenjoying food. I'm thinking of looking around for some no sugar, nofat icecream and maybe some light cool whip? Guest guest
I think of juice as a fruit as long as nothing is added. Granted 8 oz of juice is more calories than say a 4 oz orange, 4 oz apple. But then my energy source is carbos - not fat. Guest guest
I notice the "health" bars, oatmeal bars, snack bars, etc have a lot of additives or corn syrup. One bar at $1.50 the first ingredient was corn syrup - that's worse than a snickers bar costing half as much. I also notice the slimfast bars are relatively cheap (.30$), ok for nutrients but I just think a snack should be fun also. When I go thru the store I end up with apples, oranges, prunes, bananas, maybe dried fruit, - they're usually cheaper as well.
