I wanted to keep them humidified. Drying out seems to be more of a problem than keeping them cold. Yes the older ones have plugs for stuff to drain out. The one I have is about 3 yo.

I never realized how little ice the icemaker makes. Better to put in a few trays. I cleaned the filter and lines, but it seems to run on a timed mode.
