Guest guest
I prefer the concept of all calories being equal. Otherwise what's the point of measuring them? However I've seen enough undigested food in my waste to know there's more to the story than that. So calories consumed is not the full story. Calories eaten, less calories excreted, less calories consumed by parasitic organisms, and perhaps another factor or two I haven't mentioned. Since increasing consumption of fiber increases transit time through our digestive system, I can even imagine food " x " impacting the bioavailability of food " y " . From there it's not much of a stretch for " when " and " how much " to make a difference too. Only the bathroom scale doesn't lie, but even it can fib a little. Hydration level and current content of our alimentary can cause swings of a few lbs.... I suspect the fact that I set a new personal adult low weight today (156.8) had more than a little to do with my just running 5 miles wearing a black T-shirt and shorts, in Mississippi, at noon, in August. Go ahead and count calories but don't invest too much in micro management of what you consume because YMMV (your mileage may vary). Guest guest
oops... I meant to say... increasing fiber consumption increases transit " speed " resulting in less time for the body to extract nutrients. Guest guest
yup. consuming some fibres with fatty foods reduces the amount of fat that is actually digested too. I think there are some popular weight-loss pills that use this technique. > -----Original Message----- > From: john roberts [mailto:johnhrob@...] > Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2003 6:31 AM > > Subject: RE: [ ] Re: was:Nourishing Traditions by Sally > Fallon... calories, calories, or? > > > oops...
