Guest guest
I can certainly vouch for the existence of a die-off effect. I became so sick with something - I didn't know what - that I could barely move off the bed about a year ago. I worked out I must have had a severe candida problem - nothing else. I bought detoxing tonics (in particular - olive leaf extract) plus I took all the supplements and things people talk about on this site. I have already mentioned the unbelievable stuff that came out of me on another post. I don't remember if I mentioned that it included a dozen malignant tumours. I'm just coming out of the 'shock' state now. But despite the fact that the tumours are no longer coming out (hopefully because they are all gone) and I no longer have the problematic sugar craving which I had for years - hopefully because the yeast overgrowth has substantially deteriorated, and despite the fact that I have a lot more energy, have my mental capacity back (I had to drop a law degree when I got sick) and despite the fact that I generally feel a whole lot better, my body ( virtually of its own accord is still going thought this massive detox/die-off effect with the headaches, flu symptoms etc). I wondering when is it ever going to come to an end. It's been a year now. However, in my readings, I found information that amalgam fillings and heavy metals are a cause of candida etc, and that if you detox the metals and use fish oil together, the " infections " go for good. It was discovered by a accident by a Japanese doctor. Chlorella ( a deep sea algae) is used to detox heavy metal from the tissues, and coriander (also called cilantro) is used to take heavy metals out of the brain and central nervous system. Also, candida can well cause an absorption problems, so all the supplements will only be effective if they are being absorbed. I took digestive enzymes and it made a lot of difference (in Australia there is something in a pink packet from the chemist called 'metabolism' - it's actually used for losing weight) Keen Venables <kvenables@...> wrote: Sounds like die off and it is probably because of the diet, probiotics and garlic all working together. You must feel ill before you get better. Keen garlic and dieoff? I have been taking threelac for about 2 and a half monthes now and am growing skeptical of it's efficacy. I have been taking 3 pills of probiotic defense for about a week and a half now and have also noticed minimal effects with that. I started a very strict candida diet just about a week ago which has definitely seemed to clear up my head a bit, but not other symptoms. Just in the past few days I started eating 4-5 raw cloves of garlic a day(luckily my depression from lack of health has distanced me from my friends in the past few monthes. I'm sure I smell grand). today I woke up feeling like I wanted to puke and had frequent stomach cramps all day. I also have been holding a pretty steady fever of about 100.5 and been having headaches on and off. My gas has smelled brutal and it just hangs in the air. Is it likely that the garlic has stemmed such dieoff effects, or is it more likely that I am just coming down with something? greg

Guest guest
There is a natural mechanism to handle dieoff (toxic) symptoms and mercury -- the body's antioxidant and detoxifier glutathione is also the natural escort of heavy metals fom the body. All the antioxidants work together to reduce toxicity symptoms, and glutathione especially, because one of its roles is to regenerate other antioxidants as they are used so they can be used more than once. Adequate glutathione requires selenium, and selenium deficiency, which is very common in many areas of the world, for example most of North America, will impair glutathione manufacture, in turn impairing mercury and other metal removal and detoxification. Chronic low-level arsenic exposure, mainly from drinking and washing water, as well as mercury depletes glutathione, thus also depleting selenium. Arsenic is actually a specific detox for selenium poisoning. Glutathione is part of ATP energy production, so without the selenium there is a glutathione deficiency inside the mitochondria where they ot only need 90% of the antioxidant protection in the body but where they need to produce ATP energy to keep the cell alive. While this is actually a systemic condition, locally the intestine is more depleted due to more concentrated exposure to toxins generally plus being directly depleted by the arsenic in drinking water; this would suppress cell growth and repair of leaky gut. Because of its pivotal systemic effect in health, I recommend keeping glutathione high and selenium adequate, and that's why I recommend cold-processed whey. The lactose component should essentially be neutralized by an adequate probiotic bacteria ecology, which would use it before you would react to it. Some wheys have had the lactose substantially or entirely removed in the first place. A final note of particular interest to vegetarians is that the branched chain essential amino acids, plus lysine, methionine and tryptophan, which may be present in tiny amounts but are normally deficient in a vegetarian diet, are plentiful in undenatured whey. The casein component of milk aside, survival of all mammalian species depends on undenatured whey being a balanced and an all around good food. Guest guest
Hi - I'm actually a nurse. They are quite distinct looking things. They look like little pink tongues. I was shown a photo of them in a medical textbook. It was an exact match. No - I didn't get them ananlyzed. The truth is that I'm too gutless to be told officially - so now you have something genuine to attack me on. But if you had a photo of a toothbrush and a toothbrush in you hand, you'd have a pretty good idea it was the same thing. These things weren't ambiguous to look at. And yes, I picked these things out with toothpicks from my faeces while I was in the toilet, cleaned them up and had a good look before flushing them down the toilet. Unfortunately I didn't appreciate the significance of what they were till I was shown a photo of them in the Mosbys Medical/Nursing dictionary. There were also some non malignant tumours called phaeochromocytoma. I can't prove or explain what happened to me - but I did write to the Federal Australian Health Minister documenting my experience. But for those people willing to keep an open mind, I'm hoping the following information may help someone. I passed lots of things that I was later able to idenfy with photos from medical textbooks - mainly fungus and worms. Despite expert medical opinion, my tumors (that I didn't know I had) came out after lots of strong detox - while I was using a product called 'pinnacle tonic' amongst other things. I feel a whole lot better. I have had 3 oncology appointments which I have missed - to see if there is anything left. And when I'm brave enough I'll go to one of them. I hope the message comes accross that tumours (at least mine) can come out without the ravages of surgery and chemotherapy etc. I'm reporting truthfully what I saw because it may one day help someone else. I note once again, I can't explain or prove what happened. According to naturopath sites (and my girlfriend from school who is now a doctor), it's not that difficult to get rid of cancer by alternative means. Once again, I'm not interested in a slanging match with you. Avraham Makeler <amakeler@...> wrote: >> I don't remember if I mentioned that it included a dozen malignant tumours. Guest guest
Thanks for the information Duncan. I recently purchased selenium. My information is that glutathione, in oral form, is all but broken up into its constituent parts before it can do the body any good, and that cysteine (something like that) is better to take, because the body manufactures glutathione from cysteine. I'm assuming the whey can be purchased from health food shops so I will look out for it. I understand that intravenous glutathione, which is very expensive and needs to be imported from Italy or something is effective. Duncan Crow <duncancrow@...> wrote: There is a natural mechanism to handle dieoff (toxic) symptoms and mercury -- the body's antioxidant and detoxifier glutathione is also the natural escort of heavy metals fom the body. Guest guest
I also understood for several years that glutathione was broken up into its constituents; however, oral high-dose glutathione was offered as an option by an anonymous clinical nutritionist on one of these lists. He said he used the method for about 10 years with excellent results. More than three grams per dose, which I had considered was probably a high dose, did not produce results in the research and we don't know what the clinical nutritionist high doses were (or if he really has that experience). But taken at face value, to those who can afford to high dose for any length of time, this may be more than an academic point of interest, and it might actually save someone's life some day Free form cysteine is actually a toxin that must be bound with something to be useful. NAC for example, would be taken at 300-500 mg per dose every four hours due to its short half-life. The dipeptide cystine might be a better choice than NAC. IV glutathione does not enter cells but it does satisfy some of the glutathione demand in the blood serum so what IS produced in the cells can be spared for intracellular action. Vitamin C does it too, so also presumably do other antioxidants as they all work together. Guest guest
Hi again Helen, >> so now you have something genuine to attack me on >> Once again, I'm not interested in a slanging match with you. I am puzzled where got the idea that I was attacking or slanging. I re-read my post just to check, and I can't see anything even remotely aggressive there. Anyway, I also have always believed that many/most cancers can be cured by natural means (although it may mean giving up work while you do it). A lovely aunt of mine died of cancer last year. She took the conventional route, and after the doctors had finished cutting her, poisoning her, and scorching her, they declared that she now has a weak heart from the chemo and so now they can't operate on her any more... :-( avraham On 10/10/06, Helen deHavilland <helen_dehavilland@...> wrote: > > Hi - I'm actually a nurse. Preformed vitamin A (retinol) has a sparing effect on glutathione peroxidase that allows it to be maintained in the face of massive amounts of oxidative stress. This was the apparent mechanism by which Stohs (1984) found that 25% of rats fed high-dose vitamin A in combination with lethal doses (the dose at which all rats would be guaranteed dead) of dioxin (TCDD) survived. Vitamin E, which did not exert a glutathione-sparing effect, produced only 10% survival when combined with a lethal dose of TCDD. I believe this is also probably the reason that soybean oil (which does not contain vitamin A) but not cod liver oil (which contains lots of vitamin A) enhanced oxidative stress induced by some drug in one study I found, and why it depleted glutathione while cod liver oil didn't.
