Guest guest
I tried niacin to raise HDL, and it worked and it didn't take near the 3 grams protocol. I'm a low TC low HDL person. The problem was after one month - I stuck it out for the blood test - my right shoulder was so sore I wouldn't let my wife lay on it at night. They call it gout but no one really knows what it is, I still have some pangs after 2 years. So if anyone wants to try it, I'd say do 500 mg niaspan or maybe even half that for a month and see what the effect is on blood lipids. Don't get in a hurry. If you begin to feel "gout" see if the Dr knows what it is. On the ABCNews website:"Doctors say you can make your cholesterol particles larger through a low-carbohydrate diet, exercise and medications, including niacin."http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/CuttingEdge/mckenzie031029.htmlSure would like more details, though.
