could you please tell me the manufacturer of the Veg & Fruit bar? It

does sound intriguing ... was wondering what ingredient holds it all together.

paultheo2000 wrote:

I went

Organic Vegetable and Fruit bars--First time I ever encounter

something like this. I'm so used to seeing candied junk or

protein/sugar disasters that this came as a real surprise to me. The

ingredients read: Apples, Carrots, Alfalfa, Cabbage, Broccoli, Kale,

Wheatgrass, Celery, Rosehip, Parsley, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Beets,

Bell Peppers, Collards, Watercress, BokChoy, Tomatoes, Garlic, Natural

Flavors. 50g bar contains: 160 calories, 2g protein, 38 grams carbs

(6g fiber), no fat.

This seems like an absolutely perfect bar...if it's palatable. It

pretty much includes all the vegetables I don't get on a regular

basis, too! Is there any reason I shouldn't have this as a snack (if I

add other things to make it a more complete meal?)

Almond milk--70 cals per cup, 10g carbs, 3g fat, 2grams protein. Made

with water, almonds, brown rice, natural flavour, barley malt, seal

salts, guar gum, xantham gum, carrageenan, locust bean gum. I'm not

sure if any of the preservatives or thickeners here are unhealthy or

not. Seems like a good alternative to pasteurized milk?

Organic Sour dough bread-Spelt flour, buckwheat flour, spelt

sourdough, sea salt. Is this bread sprouted and without phytates?

I also picked up some arrowroot because I've seen it mentioned in

recipes...how should I use it? Is it a complex carb or is more like

guar gum (mainly fiber)?

Thanks and Cheers!

Sounds very healthy but I'd be interested in hearing how it tastes. I note

there's no sweetner except for the natural sweetness of the apples. Also

going by the name of the manufacturer you gave, sounds like it may only be

available in Canada.

It also says it may contain natural berry concentrates (grape,

strawberry, raspberry, blueberry). It costs about 2$ (Canadian). I

bought 3 different kinds, they simply vary slightly in the fruits and

veggies used. Obviously, taste is key here...I hope it tastes OK (no

high hopes on my part!). I'll let you know on Monday when I bring it

to school.

I've found them for sale at several internet vendor sites. So far, I've

only found them for sale by the box. I'm a little hesitant to buy a whole

box before I know if they are truly something I and my family will eat.

Wow ,

I never saw a food bar with an ingredient list like the

one you give below ever before in my life! Thanks for

telling us about this discovery.

If you happen to go to a " natural foods store " , you might

see if they have " purple kale " . The stuff is aromatic, both

on the way home and in the steamer. Wonderful vegie, i

think.

If it's what I think it is, and tastes somewhat like Romaine salad I

really can't force it down, unfortunately.

I am not purposely attaching anything, and my Norton Anti-virus scanner says

I do not have a virus. Are others getting attachments from my email too?

Perhaps the attachment was the ad that is placed on our posts to the

group? When I replied to s email, I didn't delete any of his original

email, (including the ad that came with his email) This is just a

thought.

For this email, I've kept your email too, except that this time I removed

the ad that was attached to your post.

Just curious. I receive those once in a while. The ad always comes on the bottom. And I remove that when I reply. Also my server scans the attachments and reports viruses. Still I like to know if I'm missing something.

Regards.

Ok, so I tasted the veggie fruit bar. Claims to be 2 servings fruit

and 2 servings veggie. And...

It tastes great! I was really surprised! It's slightly sweet, has a

sticky yet dense texture and tastes delicious to me (I'd have it over

candy). However, it may trigger cravings due to its mild

sweetness/stickiness so I'd consume it with something else to make it

a complete meal. It obviously doesn't have the satiety as the 3-4 cups

of veggies from which it is made (no water means 10X less volume).

Overall, a very good product for the busy person. It also allows me to

consume many veggies I'd normally never touch.

If anyone else tries anything similar...I'm curious to hear reactions.
