Guest guest
So of the diets to be studied, Ornish would seem to be the closest to CRON? --- In , " margarinva " <onslowbb@c...> wrote: > http://mednews.stanford.edu/news_releases_html/2003/junerelease/diet.h > tm
Guest guest
Are you asking or critiquing? I'm not an expert so you'll have to do your own research on that. The link was posted for anyone who is, like me, interested in diet comparisons. Good luck finding your answer. --- In , " Rodney " <perspect1111@y...> wrote: > So of the diets to be studied, Ornish would seem to be the closest to > CRON? Guest guest
If they haven't already started the study, perhaps someone (Dr. Walford, presumably) should suggest to Stanford that they test a CRON diet group along with the others. Guest guest
SCRDP (Stanford Center for Research and Disease Prevention) has done a lot with diet over the years. I participated in one of their studies on weight loss, Drop It Off. As a group we met once for an informational meeting, I think, but weekly 'dropped off' our assignments in the mail for their review, collecting statistics etc. We also went to their offices to be weighed once a week (or am I dreaming?). With the information they provided, I found the program to be very helpful, sensible and encouraging. Over the 16 weeks of the program I lost about 25 lbs. through following the suggestions and following CRON. I think I was eating 1200-1500 sensible calories a day, exercising a great deal more on a regular basis than I do now and enjoying it. If the link below doesn't work for you: 1. Scroll down to the article near the bottom of June's releases 5. Select the 'Go' button at the end of the line to read it. Guest guest
Hello CR ALL: Ruth shared an interesting website & article describing a head-to-head diet competition to decide which diet is best, and in which ways it is best. The public is confused about different diet choices, and there is little professional and unbiased research about different diet choices. The public widely follows such diets, but understands little. The diet study Ruth mentions is being conducted by the Stanford Center for Research in Disease Prevention (the best): Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/s8p9 The same URL, fully expanded: http://mednews.stanford.edu/ news_releases_html/2003/junerelease/diet.htm The study will last a full year (a long-term study at last), and will provide formal training on each diet type that is assigned to randomly selected subjects. The 4 diet types (in alphabetical order) to be compared: 1) Atkins diet (Low carb, high protein & fat) 2) Ornish diet (Vegetarian high carb, low fat). 3) Traditional weight loss diet (USDA food pyramid). 4) Zone diet (Balanced 40/30/30 C:F:P). -- Warren ============================== =========================== On 24 Oct 2003, Ruth wrote: ....
