CRON treats

Hi all,

Thought I'd share the following two recipes which I and my family very

much enjoy. They're not 100% CRON, but they're delicious and

nevertheless healthy. Great for when you're really craving something

sweet. :)

Banana Bread:

I substitute the canola oil with olive oil and change the honey to

stevia drops (adjust to your palate).

Ginger Cookies:

Since I have a sweet tooth I add some stevia drops (obviously

optional) and I change the vegetable oil to olive oil. I use fresh

ginger root which makes it even more delicious (ginger root is really

cheap and absolutely delicious in smoothies and such, in my

experience). Since I don't like raisins, I also changed that for

pitted dates.

I'm sure this recipes can be " CRONed " with only minor taste

differences: ie: adding bran, protein powder, but I don't feel it's

necessary.

If anyone has similar recipes to share...I would love to hear about them!

Cheers,

-

treats are in the eyes of the beholder.

Nobody here has the occasional treat? :(

Nobody that will admit publicly ;-)

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get rid of my sweet tooth, so my treats are

not particularly CRON-worthy. If I'm trying to be good, but still have a

treat, I try to find the purest chocolate around without much added other

stuff. Which is usually a 60-80% cacao (dark) chocolate bar, depending.

Does anyone have pastries similar to those I suggested, then... or

have you guys renounced those forever?

: in our recipe file are many " treats " that are compatible with CRON.

See especially " desserts " .

" Treats " probably wasn't the best word. What I meant was pastry-ish

stuff like cookies. :)

The word pastry implies lotsa fat. Pie dough, things made with philo dough.

I choose rolls in place of biscuits,eg, because biscuits have a lot of fat and tend to be made with hydrogenated fat instead of butter. There is one butter cookie - foreign - low sodium also and cheaper than US made stuff.

How about a low fat fig bar?

Regards

On coffee: the scientific community has been studying coffee for all of my very long life and has never found any reason for us to give it up, thank goodness. Peg

The treats I mentioned contain relatively little fat, and only healthy

fat at that...

It has been my observation that some people, perhaps people with strong constitutions, can handle the caffeine with little drawbacks for many, many years. My sisters are a few of them...they are in their 40's and still drink afternoon coffee and morning coffee. I don't know how they do it without adrenal exhaution, which happened to me.

I loved coffee, too. In fact I still love the caffeine high but I can't do it everyday anymore. I think I burned out my adrenals...and when I was really attached to it, I noticed that it did'nt do much for my face. But that was mostly me, I think I could've been allergic.

If I still drank the stuff I'd get organic...because regular, I hear, has plenty of chemicals in it you don't need.

Have a great day!
