Guest guest
Being overweight accounted for the greatest percentage of esophagus adenocarcinomas--41 percent, the authors state. The next biggest contributor--ever smoking--accounted for 40 percent of cases. Together, being overweight, ever smoking, reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus, and low fruit and vegetable consumption accounted for 79 percent of cases. Alcohol consumption was responsible for the greatest percentage of esophageal squamous cell cancers--72 percent. Nearly 90 percent of cases could be accounted for by alcohol use, a history of ever smoking, and low fruit and vegetable intake. http://makeashorterlink.com/?P3A3214F5 Iris

It leads to the stomach. Adenomacarcinomas are from the underlying mucosal-type cells generally, whereas squamous cell carcinoma derive from the surface epithelia. So, I imagine that it makes sense for the former to derive more from the endogenous factors, while the latter derive from the exognous factors transversing the gastrointestinal tract. Cheers, Al. Guest guest
> Hi All, I am highly pleased to be back, thank you Fancesca. I do well in my new long-term disability home of Port Alberni, BC, Canada. The weather, vegetables and fruits are very much enjoyed. My family (81-year-old mother, three brothers and sister) is all here in BC, which is a big attraction also. Cheers, Al.
