Backing for belief in herbal benefits

Scientists at the Medicinal Plant Research Centre at the universities

of Newcastle and Northumbria have demonstrated what herbalists have

long believed: sage is a tonic for the brain. They say volunteers

given capsules containing sage oil performed consistently better in

memory tests. Nicola Tildesley, chief researcher on the project,

says, " This proves how valuable the work by the old herbalists is,

and that they shouldn't be ignored because they were writing

centuries ago. "

p.s. does anyone know of a sage OIL supplement (not the essential

oils that are for external use only). I have only found sage herb

capsules.

Which sage?

I planted some, but was never sure it was the right ones. They didn't do well anyway, so I used the basil. Now I wonder if it's the right basil. Oh well, it keeps the bugs away and makes good pesto. Next year I'll try a diff sage if I can find the right seeds. You know you can buy basil seeds for eating in oriental markets. Grind them in a coffee grinder and add to stews. Maybe you could get the sage seeds and do the same? Doyou think the sage oil they used came from the seeds?

Regards.
