Guest guest
hi lizzie i have had severe hormonal imbalances in the past (was vegan and ate/drank a lot of soy for 7 - 8 years in my twenties). it took a while to get back to normal, i'm not even sure i ever will ne totally 'normal' again. i had major ovarian cysts and immense pain twice during each monthly cycle. one of the most important things your body needs is good fats. make sure you're eating enough free range eggs, high quality meats, poultry with their fats, and seafoods. and a good butter if you like too. cholesterol is used by the body in the manufacture of sex hormomes so these foods are really important to help your system get back into the swing of things. i felt so much better when i started increasing my fats. my cysts (they are the cylicical kind, where the ovary swells with excess fluids causing severe pain and eating/digesting discomfort) only act up now if i'm under extreme stress, or if i drink too much caffeinated coffee. i'm sure there are homeopathics and/or herbs you can take as well, to promote bleeding, but believe me, those good fats are going to do a world of good! Guest guest
Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy because they've been taught that you get fat if you eat fat, but I eat LOADS of good fats! I even have all the fat off the skin when I have a mackerel or herring. I have at least 2tbsp coconut oil every day, and butter on my vegetables. And I have a few seeds if I get constipated, because I find I respond well to them. My GP doesn't believe me when I tell him what my diet's like - all the fat, I mean - because I'm a bit underweight and I don't have much of an adipose layer. He keeps trying to get me to eat grains and cereals but I won't. Eventually I plan to reintroduce a couple of things, like red rice, wild rice, and quinoa, but I'm not up to it yet. I am glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's suffered hormonal problems due to soy. I mean, I'm not glad that you had problems! Just that I'm not alone. And from the sounds of things it can get better, so you've given me hope there. I won't take homeopathic remedies because they're in sugar pills (or alcohol tinctures) and I'm really strict about that. I tried it in the early days, against my better judgement though on the advice of a homeopath, and not only did it have no effect on my nonexistent menstrual cycle, it actually made my digestive symptoms worse. So I'm not doing that again! But herbs might be worth a try - I am going to see my alternative therapist on Saturday, and I'll ask if he knows of a knowledgeable herbalist I can consult. I don't want to experiment on my own! Incidentally, I've just done your lamb curry recipe, with organic lamb mince, and stuffed an aubergine with it. It's in the oven waiting for my dad to get in from work!
Guest guest
Sorry, I just read that over and realised I didn't say thank you!
Guest guest
Dear Lizzie, I caution you about taking herbs for menstrual problems. You are better off to do the diet and take the supplements recommended and just give your body time to adjust to everything before adding something more for it to deal with. Don't be concerned about not fixing something right away. It will normalize as your body continues healing. Believe and trust in your body. This is not a time to try and find quick fixes. I tried all of the herbs recommended for my menstrual problems and nothing worked as good as the diet, supplements and curing my candida. You haven't been on the program very long. Give it time, and allow your body to decide. Luv, Bee Lizzie wrote: > > Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy because they've been taught that you get fat if you eat fat, but I eat LOADS of good fats! My mum had breast cancer, partly due to overexposure to oestrogen (she had a v short mentrusal cycle) and it's beginning to concern me that as I've still got all the proper oestrogen in my bloodstream (it's just not getting balanced out by the progesterone), I might end up the same. Last year I had a number of moles removed from my face, and two of them have grown back. There are all sorts of dodgy things happening to me and I can't help being concerned! And it's hard to believe and trust in my body when it's been nothing but trouble in the past! ;-) I don't know, it's just getting to me that my other symptoms are getting better but there seems to be no end in sight as far as this is concerned. If you haven't consumed any soy since February this year all of its bad effects would have cleared out of your body by now, particularly since you are following the candida program. It is very common for women to experience menstrual problems when they have candida, and depending up your age you could be starting menopause. Having high amounts of oestrogens is not the only cause of cessation of periods. Many women also find when they start on this program their hormones start to go even more whacky and I believe it is because their bodies are doing a lot of adjustments because it is getting the nutrients needed to break down and rebuild, and also because of re-tracing. But eventually their menses normalize to even better than they were before, but that does take time. Bee
Guest guest
Heh, I'm 23, so hopefully it isn't the menopause. But I suppose my body has been making a lot of adjustments, maybe menstruating just isn't a priority right now. Ah, well, I guess I'll just have to be patient. (Which has never been one of my strong points!) I know my new GP wants to send me for some more tests, and I may as well go and have them. They might turn up something, you never know! Thank you.
